David Cuneo


David Cuneo is the founder of Health Plan Advocate with 30+ years of experience in the health management field. He served as President of the area’s largest non-profit utilization management company for over fifteen years and has had other key leadership responsibilities including management of a physician based PPO Network and serving as the President of HealthCare 2000, a West Michigan based employer purchasing coalition on health.

David has served on many local and state boards including the Michigan Association of Health Coalitions, Leadership Grand Rapids Executive Committee, Healthy Kent 2000, Heart Walk Grand Rapids, Tobacco Free Partners, West Michigan Occupational Health Initiative, Chamber of Commerce Health Insurance Committee, United Way Allocations and Review Executive Committee, Legal Aid of Western Michigan, and others. David has participated in the Center for Creative Leadership, and Michigan White House Conference on Aging.

David holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University.

John Missad

Chief Operating Officer

John has supported employers with their employee benefit programs since 1994.  His diverse background includes consulting with plan sponsors and their advisors, driving strategy, and leading process improvement initiatives.  John brings a well-rounded perspective to clients, having provided guidance on health, welfare, and retirement benefit plans over the course of his career.  He also provides insights from multiple viewpoints with his varied experience in plan administration, provider services, and consulting. 


John holds a Master’s degree in Business from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University.

Joan Brink

Vice President, RN, BSN, CDMS

Joan Brink is the Clinical Manager at Health Plan Advocate and has been with the company since its start in 2001. She graduated from the Blodgett School of Nursing and the University of Michigan. Joan has been a Registered Nurse for over 35 years. Her experience includes medical surgical nursing with a specialty in neurological conditions and acute rehabilitation. She has 15+ years working as a case manager with patients with catastrophic and neurological injuries. She helped build HPA from the ground up as the Operations Specialist. She has specialist training in transplants, in oncology, and in underwriting services. She is professionally active in CMSA and local chapters of case management organizations.

Growing up with both parents in the nursing field, Joan is passionate about nursing and helping people. She took the initiative to improve her own health and wants to use her problem solving skills to help others do the same.

Linda Stauffer

Office Manager

Linda Stauffer has been with us since 2002. Prior to joining HPA, Linda was a Nurse Coordinator at Grand Rapids Pediatrics for four years, a Level III Medical Assistant at Grand Valley Health Plan for five years, and the Audit and Training Manager at Traveler's Insurance for 14 years.

Linda has a well-rounded knowledge of the HPA and experience with the entire scope of our services, from wellness to utilization review. She is known for her compassion and excellent customer service. Being in wellness has given her the opportunity help those around her better understand that good nutrition and exercise habits are important for everyone and you need to be aware of the internal aspects of your body. Helping people recognize the hazards of tobacco use and helping them quit is also a passion for Linda.

Adam King, MPH, CPhT, PRS

Director of Pharmacy Savings

Adam is a certified pharmacy technician with over a decade of pharmacy experience.  He holds a Master of Public Health from Western Michigan University earned in 2020, a Bachelor of Science degree in vocational education earned in 2002 and an associates degree in business earned in 1999.  He is active with the Michigan Pharmacists Association serving on two practice section boards.  In his free time Adam spends time with his dog, two cats, and rollerblades on local trails.

Emily Zoeller

Director of Corporate Wellness

Emily has her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish. Emily is a Certified Exercise Physiologist, Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. Emily’s passion for health and wellbeing allows her to aid other in accomplishing their goals. Outside of the office, Emily enjoys hiking with her dog Theo, reading, and working out.

Wellness Coordinator

Ryan started working at HPA in January, 2015 and brings 10 years of personal training experience with him. He has his Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from Eastern Michigan University. When Ryan is not helping people get healthy at HPA, he is playing with his two children and spending time with his friends and family. Ryan enjoys a number of outdoors activities including; hiking, running and kayaking. He also works out 5-6 days per week and aims to maintain a healthy balance between work and family.

Christina Falahee

Wellness Coordinator

Christina has her bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University. She is also a certified health coach. Christina is passionate in motivating and helping others achieve their health and wellness goals.  Outside of work, she enjoys running, going to bootcamp, spending time with friends and spending time Up North.

Lisa Hallock, RN

Health Improvement Coordinator

Lisa is a Registered Nurse with her Bachelors of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University and is also a Certified Health Coach. She has worked in the Health and Wellness field since 2004. Lisa is passionate about encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle. Lisa excels at building relationships and providing the professional, emotional and spiritual support to members. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with family at their cottage, boating, swimming, and kayaking. She enjoys long walks with her dog. Her greatest anticipation is becoming a Grandma soon!

Jasmine Hayes

Pharmacy Savings Coordinator

Jasmine Hayes is a licensed and certified pharmacy technician and HPA's Pharmacy Savings Coordinator.  With years of experience in pharmacy. Jasmine coordinates all members who are enrolled in our pharmacy savings program. A strong belief in helping others,  Jasmine loves spending time with her twin boys which includes dancing like nobody's watching and finding different healthy recipes to cook together.

Chloe Jordan

Pharmacy Savings Coordinator

Chloe come to us with experience in health education and project management. She has a Masters in Public Health and a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Health Services, both obtained from Western Michigan University. She has a passion of serving others by volunteering with nonprofit organizations such as G.O. Ministries, Inc., Casting Bread Ministries, and Meals on Wheels. Outside the office, Chloe is an avid hiker and enjoys having game nights with friends and family.

Domi Aouad

Health Advocate

Domi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Exercise Science from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Wellness, Fitness, and Rehab Sciences from California University of Pennsylvania.  Her background includes time as a wellness coordinator in the continuum of care retirement community.  She is also a Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and Certified Speed Specialist. Domi is a first generation American with a Lebanese background. 

Kim Johnson, RN

Utilization Review & Case Manager

Kim graduated from Charles Hackley School of Nursing as an Registered Nurse and studied Bachelor of Science in Nursing courses at the University of Phoenix.  She enjoys home remodeling, loves her blended family, and traveling on the cheap.
